The Farmer Apprenticeship ProgramDo you like being outside in the fresh air? Do you enjoy eating good food and being around animals? Are you 14 or over? Have you ever thought about being an organic farmer?Well this is your chance to try out the farming lifestyle!This summer Flamig Farm is offering the Teenage Farmer Apprenticeship Program for youth ages 14 and up. Apprentices will participate in all the activities involved with growing and bringing to market high quality organic produce. Activities include seeding, transplanting, bed prep, cultivation, harvesting, selling, as well as animal husbandry, construction etc. Apprentices will also help provide part of the summer camp's lunches, from daily harvesting in the field to occasional help with cooking and preparing the meal. Although at times physically demanding, the program will balance this 'real life' experience with plenty of fun and educational activities such as nature hikes, tractor driving, learning about renewable energy, building mobile chicken coops and so much more! SCHEDULE: 8 Weeks starting June 25th (same weeks as the Adventure Camp); 9am - 1pm, Monday - Friday. Apprentices can sign-up for any week. Minimum participation is 1 week and up to all 8 weeks depending on motivation and space. COST is $100/week: Includes Snack and LunchSpace is limited to 5 apprentices per week.
